2018: Build of a new classroom and a barn

In 2017, UVS International launched the building of a new classroom and a barn in its school in Mali. The project will be finished in 2018 and will double the number of kids welcomed. Thus, the school will welcome 60 pupils instead of 30. A new teacher will also be hired. In addition of this new classroom and the orangery, a barn will be opened. The idea is that the UVS International School becomes self-financed thanks to the livestock breeding and sales on local markets.

2015 : Production of a short film about the school life

2014 : Renovation of the classroom

In 2014, from May 18th to 26th, UVS International sent a team to Mali in order to renovate its school classroom. In addition of their work, they also took time to visit the apprenticeship training center in Bamako where our first 30 residents, who ended their scholar education, are currently having a vocational training in sectors such as mechanics, dye-making or carpentry. Even two of our former pupils graduated as laureates of their promotion.

2008 : First school day

On September 1st 2008, UVS International's school in Mali opened for the first time. 30 young Malians (15 boys and 15 girls) were the first pupils to be welcomed. Michèle Djoundo has been hired as the teacher and the director of the school. She will also ensure the proper functioning of the school and follow the current administrative cases in close cooperation with the association's leaders in France. A sports instructor has also been hired by the association in order to give daily sports courses to the pupils. He is also in charge of the sporting equipment sent by the association and that will be used during the different sessions. It is possible to sponsor one or several school kids in order to help UVS International meet costs of scholar education (which are around 240€ per year for one kid). A correspondence with the kid(s) can be engaged in connection with Mrs. Djoundo.

2008 : Inauguration

UVS International was inaugurated on June 2nd, 2008 in Sala (Mali) with the presence of Cédric Kanté (International Malian player and Sponsor of the association), Frédéric Kanouté (2007 African "Ballon d'Or"), local authorities and special guests. The association would like to deeply thank Emma Chaouane for her work : she spent 4 months in Sala in order to follow the building process, the administrative formalities, the hiring of the teacher and sports educator and the kids selection.

A lot of meetings with the local authorities were scheduled all week long and we would especially thank Mr. Diarra, the village's chief, M. Ouattara, who's N'Gabokoro Droit's mayor and also the rest of the city council. We also want to commend members of the commission for the kids selection, the 30-selectioned kids' parents, Mrs Kone, Diop and Tounkara of the N'Gabokoro Droit's school and National Education also everyone in the Kati Academy that helped us. A very special mention to Mr Deyoko who's an unfailing and precious support and also to Mr. Kouyate and Mr. Tall.
